About the Band

From 1953 to 1957, the performers at the Flying W Ranch ranged from college students and folk singers to the Sons of the Pioneers until 1957 when the Flying W Wranglers were officially unveiled. Since then, more than 70 musicians have carried on the tradition of the Flying W Wranglers, passing the mantle from one generation to the next (with a few of them performing at the Ranch for well over 30 years). In addition to performing nightly at the Ranch, the Wranglers have performed all over the world from USO tours during the Vietnam War, to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee, to London, England, to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., to Carnegie Hall in New York City. The Flying W Wranglers have been featured in both local and national television commercials, performed with world-class symphonies, sung at major sporting events, and have even won a wide variety of musical awards.

Now the second-oldest Western band in the world, their stunning three-, four-, and even five-part harmonies—paired with remarkable skill on every instrument and time honored tunes of the open range—have delighted millions around the world. Their legacy includes dozens of recorded albums including the newly released live album “An Evening At The Ranch” and a new studio album to be released in 2026.

When the Flying W Ranch was resurrected from the ashes of the Waldo Canyon Fire, so too were the Flying W Wranglers. Over 300 musicians from all over the world auditioned for the chance to fill those legendary boots.

Today, you’ll find the Flying W Wranglers performing nightly at our famous Chuckwagon Dinner Show, our Cowboy Christmas Jubilee, and at festivals and events around the world.

BRIAN CHOMKA

Michael Amidei is a musician, author, poet, and podcaster based in Denver, Colorado. Originally joining The Flying W Wranglers in their 2006 season, he is thrilled to once again be able to sing the music that evokes the open range and the mythic landscape of the West.

Bobby Edwards is a musician from Wichita, Kansas. Growing up he was surrounded by a musical family. His father plays the keys and his mother sings. You’ll typically find him sitting behind his drums on stage where he’ll occasionally sing harmonies and sometimes he might even sing in tune.

Luke Tripp started playing the violin when he was only 10. Growing up in a missionary family, he spent most of his youth in Brazil, where, under the influence of his father, he learned to play bluegrass and country music. Luke works as Orchestra director and teacher in an award-winning school that offers strings instruction for K-5 students, the only public program in Southern Colorado to do so.

Born and raised in Colorado Springs, Adam Gardino is a two-time Winfield International Fingerstyle Guitar Champion. His matchless guitar playing ability, along with his endearing easy humor and humble on-stage antics, delight audiences of all ages. Originally joining the Flying W Wranglers in 2014, Adam has traveled far and wide preserving the tradition of western music.

Brian Chomka hails from Poncha City, Oklahoma, where the oil flows like…oil. In addition to being a fantastic bass player and musician, Brian enjoys hiking, golf, traveling, and cooking. When not performing with the Wranglers, Brian regularly takes the stage with musical acts around the Colorado Springs area.
